Overview

Turtle Beach's Recon 50X is a lightweight over-ear set built for long sessions, with 40mm speakers handling both the crisp highs and the rumble. In-line controls put master volume and mic mute at your fingertips, and the high-sensitivity mic flips out clearly for chat or removes altogether when you just want to watch a film. A single 3.5mm connection means it works across Xbox, PlayStation, PC and mobile. A 4.3-star rating from over 105,000 buyers marks it as a strong budget headset. Check the current price on Amazon.

How it compares in Legacy Systems

Across the 43 rated legacy systems products we track, the typical score is 4.4 out of 5. This one sits at 4.3, which is in the bottom quarter of the category. That does not make it a bad buy, but there are better-rated alternatives on the same shelf, so it needs another reason to earn your money.

It carries 105,938 ratings against a category median of 3,137. A rating from a large base is harder to distort and tends to hold up over time, so a high score here means more than the same score on a new listing.

On price it sits in the middle third of a category running from £2.99 to £355, where the midpoint is about £13.86. That is the part of the range where most sensible buys sit, neither cutting corners nor paying for the name.
