The Amazon Fire HD 10 offers a 10.1-inch 1080p screen, 3GB of RAM and a strengthened aluminosilicate display, perfectly pleasant for streaming, reading and light games. The iPad, close to four times the price, brings the far quicker A16 chip, an 11-inch Liquid Retina display, 128GB of storage, WiFi 6 and a proper app ecosystem. Curiously, both hold exactly 4.5 stars, from 5,697 and 4,682 reviews, which says each delivers on its own promise. As a sofa streaming slab, the Fire is a bargain. As an everything device, the iPad justifies the gap.
